Kurtis Opp earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State University after spending ten years working as a respiratory therapist. He then completed his Physician Assistant training at Stanford University’s Primary Care Associate Program, graduating with honors in 1991. Following graduation, Kurtis gained experience in cardiac surgery, urgent care, and occupational medicine before joining UCSF, where he worked closely with Professor Marcus Conant, M.D. As the first dermatology Physician Assistant in San Francisco, Kurtis completed ten years of advanced dermatology training under Dr. Conant’s mentorship. Kurtis is a past president and co-founder of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. He has served as a steering committee member of the San Francisco Bay Area Physician Assistant Association (SFBAPA) and is the founder of the San Francisco Dermatology PA Journal Club.
